What Do You Want In Life…
What Is Your True Purpose?

What do you really want in your life?

Most people do not discover what they want in life until it is time for them to leave this world – and that is a real shame.

Most people spend the best years of their lives watching television or doing meaningless things they dislike. An author once described humanity by saying, “Most people die at twenty and are buried at eighty.” Are you one of the living zombies in todays society? Here is where it is time to be brutally honest with yourself.

What do you really want in your life?

Some people really struggle in answering such a question. When asked what they truly want or what their dreams in life are, most people are unsure. They are clueless in their decision, hardly giving any thought about what they want in life. People without definite goals are just allowing time to pass them by. Are you one of these people? Statistically speaking…
You Are!

If you are undecided or completely unsure about what you want out of life and your true purpose, do not worry.  There are many ways of discovering and bringing forth your true purpose in life.

To discover what your purpose in life is, you must look deep into your heart. More times than not, people are controlled by logic. Most live by what they think they should be as dictated by society or by what others would like them to be. This discovery process is the perfect time to listen to what your heart is telling you. What your heart desires and the discontent it feels come from the whispers of your authentic self. Listen to those whispers as your authentic self is the real you, the you who knows.

What your heart tells you usually feels more right than anything you have ever consciously told yourself. What your heart desires is what you usually love to do the most and this represents your passion. Anything done with passion is like play, where the task is accomplished without hesitation. You live life at your very best and feel no pressure or resistance. Sounds wonderful…Doesn’t it?

You will find complete enjoyment in doing the things that you are passionate about. Setbacks, difficulties, and obstacles will make it more challenging at times, however that will not deter you from pursuing your goals. Naturally, there will be circumstances that may prevent you from reaching your goal, your focus and heart’s desire will find ways to overcome these situations so that you will ultimately get what you want in your life. Remember this: the universe supports people who are pursuing their passion and those who are pursuing their true purpose.

However, what I just said does not mean that you do not use your mind. People are born with both the mind and the heart. It is your duty to live your best life and be in complete harmony with your mind and heart. The poet Rumi wisely said, “Live completely in the head and you cannot feel the breath and rhythm of life. Live completely in the heart and you may find yourself acting like a love-struck fool with poor judgment and discipline. It’s all a fine balance - the head and heart must forge a lifetime partnership if one wants to live a beautiful life.”

Listen to your instinct (your gut). Part of our human nature is the mysterious and spontaneous reactions we have on things. Often times, these are called instincts or gut feelings. Your authentic-self communicates with you and guides you by the way of your instincts. Instincts are those gentle nudges that prompt you to act and follow a certain path. I am sure you have felt that nudge many times before. Your role here is to listen attentively.

Many times, we listen to what others say and allow them to dictate how we live our lives. Parents often do this to their children. “We come from a family of doctors, so my son must also be a doctor.” How often have we heard this from parents who have the best of intentions for their children? Parents often unconsciously block the true expression of their child’s real self and purpose. Friends and critics will try to discourage you and point out the impossibility of your dream. Before taking their advice, evaluate the accomplishments of the critics. Have they achieved their dreams? Do they dream big at all? I bet more often than not, the answer to both of those questions is a big NO!

Remember, it is your life and destiny that is on line, not theirs, they have their own shit to deal with. It does not mean, though, that you should never listen to what other people say. Hear them out just the same. However, the final decision should be yours…Keep It That Way!

There is only one thing to remember here: Every person, to live truly and greatly, must define how they want to live and what their best, most purposeful life, that they would love to live, will look like.  Listen to your instincts, notice your longings and discontent and follow your heart’s desire. You will never go wrong. In today’s world, many are seeking the assistance of life coaches to assist them in discovering their true purpose and developing an action plan to step in the direction of that purpose…with astounding results in a shorter period of time than it would take by going at it alone.

You are going to create results in your life anyway…why not create the ones that you would love?
